About Me

I'm an older pre-med student (non-traditional or non-trad in med speak) who just couldn't give up the idea of becoming a doctor. So after nearly five years of being in the "real" world, I went back to school for biology, chemistry, and organic chemistry to make my dream a reality.

This blog began as a chronicle of my last year of pre-med classes and of applying to medical schools. After being accepted to an MD program in the US, I continued to write about my experiences during medical school. I applied into orthopaedics but didn't match, so this served to document the journey of trying to figure out what else I want to do with my life. Three application cycles later, I was finally successful and matched into orthopaedics.

I look forward to writing about the roller coaster that is a surgical residency so stay tuned!

This is a post describing my medical school application:
Details of a non-traditional medical school application

And here is the post kinda sorta mentioning my residency application:

Below are some photos of my previous life.

Here I am from my earlier days working for an ambulance company as an EMT during college. This pretty much says how I felt about school at the time:

And this is what I did for nearly six years before starting medical school, far removed from the medical field, but I loved it nonetheless:
